The hands-on workshop translates theory into clinical application, focusing on practical techniques for implant rescue and peri-implantitis management. Through guided exercises using pig jaws and realistic models, participants will practice non-surgical and surgical approaches, resective and regenerative techniques, and maintenance strategies essential for long-term implant success. This immersive experience allows clinicians to refine skills, gain confidence, and apply contemporary treatment protocols directly to their daily implant practice.

This workshop highlights the increasing challenges facing dental clinicians in the era of implantology. Implant complications, failures, and peri-implantitis represent significant clinical issues that directly impact patient care and treatment planning.

Local and systemic etiologies associated with peri-implantitis and selected implant failures will be identified and discussed. Contemporary clinical approaches to implant rescue will be reviewed and evaluated, with a strong emphasis on practical application. These principles will be reinforced through a hands-on workshop using pig jaws and models designed to simulate peri-implantitis cases.


  • Define peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis      
  • Recognize the primary etiologies of peri-implantitis    
  • Manage non-surgical approaches for implant rescue      
  • Manage surgical approaches for implant rescue
  • Recognize the importance of implant maintenance    
  • Understand the biological basis of peri-implantitis
  • Identify risk factors and apply preventive strategies    
  • Perform case selection for surgical rescue treatment versus explantation and implant removal
  • Understand prosthetic considerations to prevent food trapping and biomechanical overloading    
  • Learn resective pocket management solutions
  • Apply regenerative therapy for the correction of osseous defects    
  • Utilize guided surgery and PRGF to support and stabilize peri-implant biology

Founder & Director of T.I.D.E.
Dr. Mark H.E. Lin, a distinguished prosthodontist, earned his B.Sc., D.D.S., and M.Sc. in prosthodontics from the University of Toronto. He is a former assistant professor at the University of Toronto and a recognized fellow and examiner with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in prosthodontics.

Dr. Lin specializes in full mouth reconstructions, dental implant surgery, and implant prosthetics. He maintains a full-time specialty practice and mentors dentists in live-patient procedures.

Periodontist
Professor Jon Suzuki is a renowned figure in dentistry and microbiology, holding professorships at multiple universities and serving in key roles at institutions like the FDA and various dental organizations. He has an extensive academic background, including a D.D.S., Ph.D., and MBA, and has been recognized as “Alumnus of the Year” by several universities. Professor Suzuki has published extensively in his field and is a respected member of numerous dental and scientific councils and societies.
