Join Dr. Jae W. Chang for a comprehensive full-day program designed to elevate your understanding and execution of modern periodontal care. This course takes participants on a structured journey—from the foundations of disease classification and global epidemiology to the latest regenerative technologies, biologic advancements, and surgical techniques. Through detailed technical reviews, case-based illustrations, and evidence-driven discussions, attendees will learn how to refine diagnostic accuracy, execute predictable hard- and soft-tissue procedures, and optimize clinical protocols within the hygiene department. Whether you are enhancing surgical skills, strengthening diagnostic principles, or elevating team performance, this course provides a powerful roadmap for achieving true periodontal excellence.

Learning Objectives
  • Understand the current periodontal disease classification framework, global epidemiologic trends, and the systemic implications of periodontal disease.
  • Evaluate and apply biologically based regenerative strategies, including barrier membranes, grafting materials and growth factors.
  • Differentiate between regenerative and resective surgical approaches and competently assess indications for hard- and soft-tissue techniques such as connective tissue grafts and free gingival grafts.
  • Optimize periodontal and hygiene department protocols by improving diagnostic accuracy, evaluating debridement performance, and enhancing operational efficiency within the clinical team.

 7 CE CREDITS
   AM Session 1 (9:00–10:30)
Periodontal Diseases: Classification, Epidemiology & Systemic Links:

  • The day opens with a comprehensive review of the current periodontal disease classification system and clinical guidelines. The session examines whether the global prevalence of periodontitis has changed over the past 30 years and analyzes the worldwide distribution of principal periodontal pathogens. Participants will also explore the well-established connections between periodontal disease and systemic health, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary care.

   AM Session 2 (10:45–12:30)
   Periodontal Tissue Engineering and Regeneration
  • Building on the foundational disease concepts from the morning, this session transitions into contemporary regenerative science. Topics include biologically driven approaches using barrier membranes and grafting materials, the role of growth factors and biologic mediators, and the use of bioactive agents either alone or in conjunction with traditional grafting or guided tissue regeneration (GTR). Participants will also review predictable techniques for treating gingival recession, with a focus on coronally advanced flap procedures.

   PM Session 1 (1:30–3:00)
Periodontal Surgical Review: Hard Tissue and Soft Tissue
   Approaches
  • The afternoon begins with a technical deep dive into periodontal surgical decision-making. The session compares regenerative versus resective approaches in hard-tissue management, followed by a review of soft-tissue indications and techniques, including connective tissue grafts and free gingival grafts. Clinical illustrations and case examples will demonstrate how to select the appropriate technique for varying clinical presentations.

   PM Session 2 (3:00–5:00)
Hygiene Department Review & Periodontal Protocol Optimization
  • The day concludes with a practical, operationally focused review of periodontal protocols within the hygiene department. Participants will learn how to evaluate and adapt periodontal protocols for diverse clinical scenarios, assess hygienists’ debridement performance, strengthen diagnostic accuracy through proper probe use and radiographic interpretation, and implement strategies that enhance department efficiency without compromising quality of care.
